Te Ara Rau Access & Choice Win National Award
Mar 15, 2023

Last week several Te Ara Rau Access & Choice kaimahi attended the first ever IPMHA (Integrated Primary Mental Health and Addiction) Nationwide Conference in Wellington.

The team had 8 allocated spaces with a mix of kaimahi from THINK Hauora as well as our Iwi and Māori partners presenting a poster depicting the mahi we do here in the MidCentral region with the team taking out first place nationally.

The below is an exert of the poster that was designed:

Ko koe te kaihanga o Apopo you are the architect of your future.
The Eagle flying to the sun is Hokioi symbolising hope.
Hokioi is dropping feathers which are some of the issues and troubles that whānau come to our service wanting support for.
The person at the bottom travelling the steps is the journey people/whānau take to wellness.
The Tararua ranges and Manawatū awa are also featured to show the locality of THINK Hauora.

This achievement is a true testament to Te Ara Rau Access & Choice and the work they do for our communities in the mental health and addiction space. Dean Ward and his daughter (Ngati Raukawa ki te Tonga) were the concept artists for this piece with Adam Holloway as the digital creator. The team was made up of Katrina Watson, Louis Te Mete (Te Mana o Te Tangata) Betty Larrington, Vanessa Sayer, Sharon Harrison Mason (Ngati Kahungunu ki Tamaki Nui a Rua) Lisa Mosen (Rangitane o Tamaki Nui a Rua) and Claudia Nicholson.
