Urgent & Afterhours Care
Where do you go for reliable health advice for you and your whānau?
Urgent & Afterhours Care
In a medical emergency, please call 111 immediately.
If you're enrolled with a General Practice team, please call your normal practice 24/7 and you'll be assessed by a medical team who will advise you on the next steps of your care.
If you're not enrolled with a General Practice team or from out-of-town, call Healthline on 0800 611 116. They're available 24/7 and can provide guidance on where to go next to get the care you need.
MidCentral has one Urgent Care Centre located at City Doctors, 22 Victoria Avenue, Palmerston North. This service is available 8:00am - 8:00PM.
This service is designed for diagnoses and treatment of urgent clinical health needs such as illnesses or injuries that need immediate attention but are not life-threatening.
As we have limited urgent care capacity in MidCentral, please call first rather than walk in.
Note: Urgent care services do not process urgent requests for medical certificates and other documentation such as:
- WINZ forms (specific)
- ACC documentation
- Return to work documents
- Medical certificates
- Routine scripts
