Supporting Your Heart Health Journey
If you've experienced a Heart event/surgery, the Healthy Heart Programme is here to help you on your recovery journey.
This FREE programme provides group education, practical advice, and encouragement to help you better understand your heart health, build confidence, and make positive lifestyle changes. You'll have the opportunity to connect with others who have had similar experiences and learn from healthcare professionals in a welcoming and supportive environment.
What You Can Expect
The Healthy Heart Programme includes a series of group education sessions covering topics such as:
- Understanding heart disease
- Cardiac medications and how they support your health
- Physical activity and exercise for heart health
- Heart-healthy nutrition
- Emotional wellbeing following a cardiac event
- Planning for the future and self-management strategies
Participants are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and learn practical ways to support their long-term health and wellbeing.

Who Is the Programme For?
The Healthy Heart Programme is designed for people who have experienced a heart event/surgery and would benefit from education, guidance, and encouragement as they recover and work towards improving their overall health and wellbeing.
Eligibility
The programme is available to people living in the MidCentral region who have experienced a Heart event/surgery or who have been referred by a healthcare professional. If you are unsure whether the programme is right for you, please contact us to discuss your situation.
When and Where?
Sessions are held regularly throughout the year in:
- Palmerston North
- Levin
- Dannevirke
How Can I Join the Programme?
If you are eligible, we welcome self-referrals. Simply get in touch using the contact details below.
Alternatively, your General Practice team can refer you to the programme.
