About the Opportunity

 

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated TARAC Manager (Te Ara Rau Access and Choice) to lead the delivery and development of integrated primary mental health and wellbeing services across our region.

 

This is a key leadership role where you’ll shape how services are delivered, support a multidisciplinary team, and help ensure care is accessible, effective, and responsive to community needs.

 

More than just an operational role, this is an opportunity to influence real change. You’ll bring a mix of strategic thinking and practical leadership, helping to strengthen systems, improve performance, and build a positive, high-performing team culture.

 

As the TARAC Manager, you will:

        Lead and support the TARAC team to deliver on strategic and contractual outcomes

        Drive service improvement through data, insights, and performance monitoring

        Strengthen workflows, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency and impact

        Work across sectors to develop and deliver mental health, addiction, and wellbeing initiatives

        Build and maintain strong relationships with GPs, iwi, providers, and key stakeholders

        Champion equitable access and improved outcomes for diverse communities

        Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

        Support innovation and continuous improvement across the service

 

Who We’re Looking For:

        An experienced leader with a background in health, ideally in primary mental health or community care

        A strategic thinker who can see the big picture while keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly

        Comfortable using data to tell the story and guide smart, informed decisions

        A natural relationship builder who connects easily with stakeholders, providers, and communities

        A collaborative, values-driven leader who brings energy, empathy, and a bit of spark to their team

         Someone who genuinely understands and is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity for all communities
