About the Opportunity
As our Health & Safety Lead, you will provide specialist operational leadership, coordination, and advice to support a safe, healthy, and resilient workplace. Working closely with our People & Culture Manager, you will:
- Maintain and strengthen our health & safety systems and processes
- Support leaders and staff to identify, manage, and reduce workplace risks
- Coordinate incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up actions
- Lead contractor H&S processes and joint PCBU responsibilities
- Deliver and support H&S training in partnership with our Learning & Development Lead
- Promote open communication, engagement, and worker participation in health & safety
- Monitor performance, maintain the H&S risk register, and prepare governance reporting
- Support a positive, proactive safety culture across the organisation
- Embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice into all aspects of health & safety
This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role where you’ll work with teams right across the organisation—from clinical and network services to community practices and corporate staff.
Who We’re Looking For
- Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- 3–5 years’ experience in health & safety, risk, or compliance roles
- Experience with incident investigations and risk management
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Ability to engage and influence at all levels
- Strong organisation and follow-through
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Commitment to cultural responsiveness, equity, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Comfort working with diverse communities and stakeholders
- A full, clean NZ driver licence
Formal H&S qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, NZQA) and experience in the health or community sector are desirable but not essential.
