Conjuctivitis pilot in Palmerston North

THINK Hauora has partnered with the MidCentral Community Pharmacy Group to conduct a health initiative around free conjunctivitis consultation and treatment for children aged from two years to under 14 years.

This six-month pilot involves funded consultations at six community pharmacies from March to August. Equity of access and lessening acute demand in General Practice are key focusses of the project. The conjunctivitis pilot is also a mechanism to show our communities that many people, including pharmacists, are part of their health whānau who can provide the right care to help them stay well and manage their health.

Community pharmacists have been providing bacterial conjunctivitis consultation and treatment for more than 10 years. Participating pharmacies are Unichem Awapuni, Botanical Road Pharmacy, Vautier Pharmacy Pioneer, Cook Street Pharmacy, Unichem the Chemist Shop and Unichem The Palms.
